John H. Eichhorn received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, Boston. At Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston he started residency in surgery and switched to anesthesiology, which he interrupted for a research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Md.
Eichhorn is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He has been included on the list "Best Doctors in America" since it was created in 1992. A Provost's Distinguished Service Professor at the University of Kentucky, Eichhorn is a nationally and internationally recognized leader in patient safety and standards of practice and in received 2010 the prestigious Eisenberg Award for Individual Achievement in Patient Safety and Quality from the Joint Commission-National Quality Forum.
