Roh Yanagida received his medical degree from Asahikawa Medical College in Japan. He completed a general surgery residency at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. He later completed a cardiothoracic surgery and a heart and lung transplant/mechanical-circulation-assist fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Yanagida specializes in heart and lung transplantation as well as mechanical circulatory assist devices.
