My name is Henry C. Vásconez; I am the William S. Farish Endowed Chair and Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery, Director of the Craniofacial Anomalies Team and Clinic, and a professor in both plastic surgery and pediatrics at the University Of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington.
I earned my medical degree from Central University Medical School in Quito, Ecuador, after which I received a public health certificate and fellowship in rural and tropical medicine in the Ecuadorian Amazon jungle and the Galapagos Islands. I completed a residency in general surgery at the University of Illinois in Chicago, a residency in plastic surgery at Emory University in Atlanta and a fellowship in craniofacial surgery at the International Craniofacial Institute in Dallas.
I am a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the International College of Surgeons, and a Subspecialty Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Among my many professional memberships are the American Association of Pediatric Plastic Surgeons, the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, the American Cleft Palate Craniofacial Association, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Society of Craniofacial Surgery, the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the International Society of Craniofacial Surgery.
I have published extensively, including more than 60 journal articles and 15 textbook chapters. I am an invited lecturer, visiting professor, and presenter at medical education programs and symposia, both nationally and internationally. I am the recipient of several research grants, and currently the principal investigator in a national clinical trial in burn treatment.
