Susan M. McDowell received her medical degree from Medical College of Georgia, School of Medicine, Augusta. She is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with a subspecialty certification in Spinal Cord Injury Medicine. She is a recipient of several awards including Faculty Educator of the Year, Athena Paper Award, Resident Research Award, and the David L. Cowen Award for Outstanding Resident of the Year.

She has a special interest in spinal cord injury, pediatric rehabilitation, and spasticity management including intrathecal pumps and botulinum toxin injections.
