Alison L. Bailey is a noninvasive cardiologist at the Gill Heart Institute at the University of Kentucky. She is a native Kentuckian and grew up in Manchester, Ky. She completed medical school, an internal medicine residency, Chief Residency and a cardiovascular diseases fellowship at the University of Kentucky. Since joining the faculty, Bailey has overseen the development of a cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program and currently serves as the director of that program. Her interests include critical care cardiology, women’s cardiovascular health, cardiovascular disease prevention and medical education. Bailey is involved in several research projects that focus on patient education and self-management of cardiovascular risk. Bailey frequently speaks to the public about cardiovascular risk factors and ways to improve cardiovascular health. She recently started a “Walk with a Doc” walking program to spread the word about the power of exercise as medicine. She is an advocate of using lifestyle changes to improve all aspects of health.

Bailey is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. Additionally, she is a board certified in Adult Comprehensive Echocardiography by the National Board of Echocardiography.
