Ashish P. Maskey joins UK HealthCare as a specialist
in pulmonology, critical care medicine and interventional
pulmonology, a relatively new and upcoming field. He also
serves as an assistant professor of internal medicine at the
UK College of Medicine.
He completed a residency in internal medicine at SUNY Upstate
Medical University in Syracuse, N.Y., followed by a fellowship in
pulmonology and critical care at the Cleveland Clinic. Maskey
then received an additional year of training in interventional
pulmonology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a
teaching hospital for Harvard Medical School in Boston.
Maskey uses minimally invasive techniques such as
endobronchial ultrasound and electromagnetic navigation
bronchoscopy to aid in the diagnosis of lung nodules and
staging of lung cancer. He also performs rigid bronchoscopy,
laser, electrocautery, argon and cryotherapy for airway
narrowing/obstruction. He manages pleural diseases and
performs Denver drains, pleurodesis and medical thoracoscopy. Maskey also manages tracheotomy tubes.
Maskey works closely with a team of oncologists, radiation
oncologists and thoracic surgeons at UK HealthCare.
