Each year thousands of infants and children from other countries are adopted by American families. The International Adoption Clinic at Kentucky Children's Hospital is one of only two clinics in Kentucky that helps families before, during and after their adoption. The clinic has helped families who have adopted from:
Albania, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Columbia, Congo, Ecuador, El Salvador, Estonia, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Kazakhstan, Korea, Liberia, Mexico, Nepal, the Philippines, Rwanda, Taiwan, Thailand, Ukraine, Vietnam and others.
When your adoption referral is received from an adoption agency our physician will review the available information and offer a medical opinion on the health and medical risks of the child. You can contact Shawn M. Taylor, MD, for more information or to arrange a pre-adoption evaluation at firstname.lastname@example.org.
After your child arrives in the United States, we offer a comprehensive medical exam including a physical examination, growth and development assessments, labs and appropriate referrals if needed.
We recommend your child be evaluated within two to three weeks after their arrival in the United States.
