Rural Health Leadership Conference Held in Murray

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 26, 2009) - "A Rural Health Leadership Conference: Enhancing Communication/Broadening Our Collective Reach/Sharing Issues and Ideas" will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 8 at the third floor Curris Center ballroom, Murray State University in Murray, Ky. The free program is sponsored by the Kentucky Ambulance Providers Association (KAPA), Kentucky Office of Rural Health, Murray State University, and Purchase Area Health Education Centers (AHEC).
This program is geared toward developing leadership, management and finance skills for health care professionals in the fields of emergency medical services, hospital administration, nursing and public health.
Session topics include "Leadership: Leader-Member Exchange Relationships, Developing Subordinate Performance Capabilities and Motivating Subordinates" by David F. Martin, associate professor of management, Murray State University; "Human Resources Management: -Employment Law, Selection and Performance Appraisal" by L. Jeff Seaton, associate professor of management, Murray State University; "Money Matters for EMS Managers and Staff: Basic Budgeting Principles for a Successful EMS" and open forum/roundtable discussion by John Hultgren, district business manager of media relations, and Ron Walter, area administrative business director, both with Air Methods Corporation, Louisville, and John R. Fathbruckner, director, Emergency Medical Services, Bowling Green; and "Rural Hospital Networks and Community Collaboration: Delta Rural Performance Improvement Project--improve financial quality and operations, State Rural Hospital Networks--best practices of successful networks" by Allison Harti, program coordinator, Rural Health Resource Center, Duluth, Minn.
