Minimally invasive surgery at UK HealthCare

Many UK HealthCare disciplines use minimally invasive surgery, including Urological Surgery, Cardiology and Neurosurgery.

Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) allows us to perform surgery with less trauma to patients. Traditional surgery requires larger incisions to expose the area that needs to be repaired. Recent improvements in video technology, instrumentation and technique allow surgeons to perform many procedures through small incisions, which allow miniature cameras and instruments to be inserted into the body cavity to complete operations.

Benefits of minimally invasive surgery

  • Surgeons can see what is happening much more easily, with very little trauma to the patients.
  • Patients have smaller wounds and usually have less pain and blood loss.
  • Scars are reduced and often eliminated.
  • Patients are able to return home sooner and typically recover more quickly with fewer complications. Available for routine surgery and state-of-the-art procedures.

How UK HealthCare uses minimally invasive surgery
