Program Director
M. Sara Rosenthal, PhD Dr. Rosenthal received all of her academic training at the University of Toronto. She received her Bachelor of Arts in English literature in 1986, and Bachelor of Education in 1996. She had a long career as medical journalist, and is author of thirty consumer health books, which have been well received in the trade press. She undertook the study of bioethics in the mid-1990s, as the field was burgeoning. In 1999, she completed her masters in bioethics and medical sociology from the University of Toronto's Joint Centre for Bioethics, the only World Health Organization collaborating centre in bioethics. In 2002, Dr. Rosenthal completed her doctorate in bioethics and medical sociology from the same institution. Dr. Rosenthal’s research interests focus on endocrine ethics, genomics, and women’s health. Dr. Rosenthal is Co-Chair, Hospital Ethics Committee.
